Freiheit – sie gilt als unverhandelbar, als Grundpfeiler unserer Demokratie, als Versprechen der Moderne. Doch was, wenn das, was wir für selbstverständlich halten, längst zur Illusion geworden ist? Was, wenn Freiheit nicht nur von außen bedroht wird, sondern auch von innen heraus erodiert – durch Gleichgültigkeit, Angst, Anpassung und politische Bequemlichkeit? Wie wehren wir uns gegen jene Kräfte, die Freiheit als Freibrief für Ausgrenzung, Hass und Egoismus missbrauchen? Der Publizist und engagierte Demokrat Michel Friedman beleuchtet die politischen, gesellschaftlichen und individuellen Dimensionen unseres freiheitlichen Grundverständnisses und widmet sich einer der drängendsten Fragen unserer Zeit: Was ist Freiheit – und wie verteidigen wir sie?
