Um unsere drohende Selbstausrottung zu verhindern, müssen wir Menschen lernen, damit zu leben, dass wir Tiere sind und niemals imstande sein werden, unsere körperliche und seelische Verwundbarkeit zu überwinden. Seit unvordenklichen Zeiten beschäftigt uns die Frage, wer oder was wir Menschen sind. Sind wir nichts anderes als vernunftbegabte Tiere? Oder sind wir die Krone der Schöpfung, selbst wenn wir nicht an eine Schöpfung glauben? Sind wir deshalb „bessere Tiere“? Oder „schlechtere Tiere“, weil wir den Zugang zur Natur verloren haben? Der Philosoph Markus Gabriel setzt sich mit diesen Fragen offen, klug und vorurteilsfrei auseinander und verbindet neueste naturwissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse mit zeitgemäßer Philosophie.
