Die Koordinaten der geopolitischen Weltordnung sind tiefgreifenden Veränderungen unterworfen: Während Trump im Weißen Haus die Zerrüttung des Westens vorantreibt, wütet im Osten Europas weiterhin Russlands Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine. Im ersten Teil des Abends trifft der Politologe Herfried Münkler auf die Friedens- und Konfliktforscherin Nicole Deitelhoff, um über seine geopolitische Bestandsaufnahme Macht im Umbruch zu sprechen.
Der zweite Teil des Abends steht vor dem Hintergrund der Oper „Die letzten Tage der Menschheit“ von Philippe Manoury nach Karl Kraus, der in einem megalomanen Drama vom Ersten Weltkrieg erzählt. Herfried Münkler spricht mit dem Musikwissenschaftler Kai Hinrich Müller über die gesellschaftlichen Voraussetzungen, Rahmenbedingungen und Entwicklungen dieses Krieges, der wie keiner zuvor die Welt erschütterte.
